ARGENTINA SELLS NUCLEAR RESEARCH REACTOR TO HOLLAND FOR US$ 400 MILLIONS

(ICE) - ROMA, 30 GEN -

President Mauricio Macri announced Argentina will be building an atomic research reactor for the medical industry in Holland, which underlines Argentina's technology leadership and the fact it can be trusted in nuclear development for peaceful purposes.

In August, the Invap - with Dutch partners - formalized its bid, in which it had to compete with the companies Tecnicatom (France) and South Korea's Kaeri. Among the background of the Invap stands out, after 10 years of operation, the OPAL reactor built in Australia and the distinction granted by the Nuclear Energy Institute, which highlighted the achievements in terms of nuclear safety in the fourth edition of the Summit on Nuclear Safety in 2016. Argentina's INVAP reactor, should replace the one Europe has in Holland, which is coming to the end of its useful life, and provides the EU of 60% of radioisotopes.

Likewise, Macri held a meeting with the German Chancellor Angela Merkel in the framework of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, in which they discussed German investments in Argentina and the progress of the negotiations between Mercosur and the European Union to reach a trade agreement between both blocs.
