ARGENTINA: RECORD REVENUE OF US$ 610 M FOR GREEN BONDS IN 2017, EXPECTED TO DOUB

(ICE) - ROMA, 30 APR -

With the boom of renewable energies, bonds are also raging to finance this type of projects, which have their greatest development engine in the provinces that have already adhered to the National Law 27,424 for energy promotion and which, for example, in less than a year they accumulated investments close to 610 million dollars.

La Rioja was the first province with a placement for us$ 200 million, at 8 years and at a rate of 9.75% in dollars, with which it will seek to reach 300 MW in the power generation of the Arauco SAPEM Wind Farm, in line with the RENOVAR plan launched by the national government. Jujuy broke the barrier with the highest title in Argentine history, for us$ 210 million and with a rate of 8.625%, to complete the investment in the largest photovoltaic energy park in Latin America, in the heart of the "Puna Jujeña". Mendoza hurries the placement of a bond for us$ 100 million to develop 5 solar parks.

But not only the provinces see green bonds as an attractive option. Banco Galicia made a placement for us$ 100 million for 7 years, subscribed in its entirety by International Finance Corporation, a World Bank organization. Argentina, still a novelty in this type of investment, has joined thanks to La Rioja and Jujuy- the 2017 ranking of the Green Bond Highlights.
