TURKEY'S AKFEN RENEWABLES SWITCHES ON 26-MW WIND PARK

(ICE) - ROMA, 21 MAR -

The renewables arm of Turkish conglomerate Akfen Holding has commenced operations on its 26-MW Kocalar wind farm, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) announced on Tuesday. Financed by EBRD, Kocalar is expected to meet the electricity demand of 120,000 consumers annually. It has an estimated output of 60,000 MWh per year, enough to offset 48,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, Akfen Renewables' general manager, Kayril Karabeyoglu, said. Back in September 2018, EBRD provided a financing package of USD 102 million (EUR 89.9m) to Akfen Renewables to support the construction of the said wind farms as well as nine solar projects.
